Scabblers are made to roughen a concrete surface greater than a grinder or scarifier. A scabbler is used in conjunction with an air compressor to remove up to 1/4 “concrete in just one pass. It is suitable for various applications including: removing large areas of concrete floor, roughening surfaces for new coatings, reducing high-spots, creating wheel chair access ramps, slip-resistant surfaces, texturing floors and ramps, and breaking up ceramic tiles.
Scarifiers are used for general duty surface preparation, removal of concrete, thermo-plastic lines, oils, paints, thin mil coatings, traffic markings, trowel marks, curled joints, cleaning floors, creating non-slip surfaces, sidewalk trip-hazards. When using a Scarifier, a drum is easily changed to fit the task at hand. Depending on the existing coating, specific drum assemblies are required yield a certain result. ( i.e. One form of teeth on drum is best for a general finish on concrete, another for removing paint or thick film for a fine, shotblast-like finish and another to remove elastomeric coatings.)
